Good Health is No Illusion
The Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation (LWDHF) was pleased to receive a $2,151 donation from the Kenora Professional Fire Fighters Association (KPFFA).
Mr. Fred Ralko of the Association was pleased with the success of the May 30, 2008 Ryan Joyce Magic Show. The donation was a direct result of ticket sales from the show at Lakewood School. A total of $6486.75 has now been raised for the Hospital Foundation since the partnership was first established between the KPFFA and Mr. Joyce.
The contribution will be used for the Healthy Hospital, Healthy Community campaign which has a fundraising target of $490,000. The project includes roof repairs, improvements to the communication system, surgical suite renovations and medical gas delivery upgrades. The total project has a $4.9 million dollar price tag but the Ministry of Health has approved funding for only 90% of the costs. It is up to the community to raise the remaining 10%. For every dollar generated in Kenora, $9 more is leveraged from the province. The $2,151 gift actually results in $21,510 for the hospital.
“After we discussed the information, it was clear to our group that supporting this project is a good idea and provides a good bang for our buck”, said Mr. Ralko. “We are glad to help out.”
