Biking for Chemotherapy Results in $5300!
Wesley Bauer, son of Lyle Bauer, has been biking across Canada since May 17, 2009 to raise money and awareness about cancer treatment. On Saturday, June 20, 2009 during his stopover in Kenora, he was a guest and participant in a fundraiser Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament at Smith Camps. All funds raised at the tournament were donated to the Lake of The Woods District Hospital Foundation, specifically the chemotherapy ward.
With 55 poker players competing for 1 of 8 fabulous prize packages donated by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, a 50-50 draw, and charity auction, the event was a great success. The results of the Poker tournament included:
1st Place: Ashley Morgan – Ultimate Bomber Fan Experience, Bomber tickets, and a $50 Gift Card to the Bomber Store.
2nd Place: Ollie Dunn – AC/DC Tickets, Bomber tickets, and a $50 Gift Card to the Bomber Store.
3rd Place: Ron Sabourin – Aerosmith/ZZ Top Tickets, Bomber Tickets, and a $50 Gift Card to the Bomber Store.
4th Place: Bill Mableson – Football autographed by Doug Brown, Blue Bomber Tickets, and a $50 Gift Card to the Bomber Store
5th Place: Brad Lowes – Rock on the Range Tickets, Blue Bomber Tickets, and a $50 Gift Cad to the Bomber Store.
First Person Out: Chris Watson – DVD “Fun to Know Poker”
Karen Smith was the lucky winner of a pair of Aerosmith/ZZ Top tickets by donating for a chance to win, as well as Jim Lecain won the 50-50 draw. Overall, over $5300 was raised through this event, the most money raised through a single day event to date.
The Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation would like to thank Wesley Bauer, his team and Smith Camps for their efforts in realizing this donation for the Chemotherapy Department.
