A healthcare needs assessment for Northwestern Ontario has identified surgical Ophthalmology as a priority. This funding request will assist the hospital with costs associated with the purchase of equipment that is allowing cataract surgery to be performed locally.
In the Kenora-Rainy River District, there are more than 500 Persons waiting to have their vision restored by cataract surgery. The Lake of the Woods District Hospital has available operating room time and visiting ophthalmologists have committed to performing the surgery in Kenora for patients.
